Oklahoma State University, Lecturer of Oboe, Stillwater OK, 2017-2019

           

Duties included teaching oboe lessons and studio class to majors and non-majors, teaching the oboe portion of double reed methods class, and teaching Introduction to Music to non-majors. I regularly performed faculty recitals and collaborated with faculty and OSU ensembles. I frequently traveled throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Arkansas to recruit students for the oboe studio. I also served as co-host for the fall OSU Double Reed All-State Clinic and the spring OSU Double Reed Day. Both events served to recruit students to the university and educate them on etudes, solo repertoire, and reed making.

 

Oklahoma State University, Director of the OSU Summer Music Camp, Stillwater, OK, 2017-2019

I served as the Director of the OSU Summer Music Camp, a 6-day camp for high school students in band, orchestra, and piano.  As the Director, I was responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing materials, creating of registration and scholarship applications, hiring of artist faculty and student workers, creating of student and faculty schedules, scheduling and coordinating of all meals and student activities, and recruitment for the camp. In 2017, I shadowed our former camp director and was the direct report for the Resident Assistants. In 2018, camp enrollment grew from 120 to 140, and I instituted a $100 guaranteed scholarship for All-State and All-Area students. The OSU Summer Music Camp received a $2,000 grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council and raised over $4,000 through a PhilanthroPete campaign for camp scholarships. In 2019, the camp continued the $100 All-State Scholarship, with the hopes of increasing the dollar amount in future years. We also received another grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council for $2,500.

Adjunct Instructor of Oboe, Heidelberg University, Tiffin, OH, 2012-2016

 

Duties included teaching oboe lessons to majors and non-majors, performing with the Heidelberg Faculty Woodwind Quintet, and frequent outreach and recruiting events throughout Northwest Ohio. I also regularly performed as a part of the annual Faculty Gala and New Music Festival, in addition to performing solo recitals and chamber music with other faculty members.

Duties included teaching oboe lessons to all of the non-major oboists at the university, making reeds and instructing all oboe sections of the music education methods class, and assisting with the teaching of studio class.

I have actively recruited students from across southeast Michigan for my oboe studio. I taught weekly lessons in oboe, english horn, and reed making. I also made/sold reeds, coached students in chamber music, and prepared students for performances and studio recitals.

Oboe Instructor, Dexter Community Schools, Dexter, MI, 2013-2016

 

I was hired by Dexter Community Schools to be the sole oboe instructor for the district. Duties included making/selling reeds and teaching weekly oboe lessons in Dexter. I also performed and regularly recruited new oboe students for the program. 

 

MPULSE, Assistant Oboe Instructor, Ann Arbor, MI, 2012, 2013, 2014

 

Duties included assisting with the preparation and daily instruction of fifteen to nineteen talented high school oboists for two weeks of intensive camp. I taught daily sections of reedmaking, coached duets, trios, and quartets, taught private lessons to all of the students, and coached the oboe band. 

 

MERIT program at Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara, CA, 2011

         

Of the four oboe fellows at the Music Academy of the West, I was selected through an interview process to teach students selected to participate in the MERIT program. Only a hand full of very talented high school students are selected out of fifty or so applicants to participate. Through the program, I taught oboe lessons, coached mixed chamber groups, and prepared high school students for an end of session recital.
